Gebroeders de Wit

Two brothers determined from Schiedam start shortly after the Second World War, a furniture factory. Inspired by numerous designers from the Bauhaus school, they designed and made their own furniture for offices and homes. They didn’t want to work with unnecessary design accents and concentrated mainly on the comfort and technical perfection. The Gebroeders De Wit dit not want to do any concessions to comfort. They created a willful and timeless design. Sustainability was paramount. Not only for the steel frames, but also for fabrics and other materials they chose. They wanted to make the best seats and they did.

The brothers announced their retirement in the mid-seventies on. In 1977 stopped the manufacture and sale. Now, Gebroeders Van der Stroom have the rights and under the name Dutch Originals they bring a number of drafts of the Gebroeders De Wit back on the market.
